Car rentals reward the right card twice: earning, via Chase Sapphire Preferred or Reserve travel multipliers and Capital One Venture X's flat 2x, and coverage, via the primary rental CDW several of those cards carry — genuinely valuable on European rentals where damage waivers are pricey add-ons. Watch foreign-transaction fees on cards that still charge them.
