Dining and travel both earn 3%, and that travel rate covers Costco Travel bookings, which makes the card useful well beyond the pump. The catches are structural. The 2% rate is Costco-specific: it applies only at Costco and Costco.com, not at Sam's Club, BJ's, or any other warehouse club, and everything outside the bonus categories falls to 1%, including gas once you clear that $7,000 annual cap. There is no intro APR and the ongoing rate runs 18.74% to 26.74%, so this is a card to pay in full each month and use as a gas, restaurant, and travel earner rather than a borrowing tool.
