The Reserve only works if you actually spend the credits, and there are many: $300 in automatic travel credit, up to $500 a year through The Edit by Chase Travel, $300 for dining at Sapphire Exclusive Tables on OpenTable, $300 in StubHub credits, up to $300 in monthly DoorDash promos, and $120 each toward Lyft and Peloton. On paper that clears the $795 annual fee several times over, but most of it arrives in monthly or semi-annual slices that vanish unused, so the honest question is whether your spending already looks like that list. Earning is genuinely strong where it counts: 8x on Chase Travel bookings, 4x on hotels and flights booked directly, 3x on dining, 1x on everything else, with no foreign transaction fees plus Priority Pass and Sapphire Lounge access. Chase cut the signup bonus from 150,000 points to 100,000 in June, now after $6,000 of spend in three months. It lands at #3 on our Best Travel list for travelers who use the lounges and book through Chase; if managing a calendar of credits sounds like work, the Preferred does the core job for $95.
