The signup bonus is 75,000 miles after $4,000 of spend in the first 3 months, modest next to the fee but backed by real ongoing value. The main caveat is that the headline rates run through Capital One's own booking channels: 10x on hotels and rental cars and 5x on flights only when booked through Capital One Travel, and the 5x entertainment rate only on the Capital One Entertainment platform, which excludes dining reservations and Capital One Dining. If you will not book through the portal, treat it as a 2x card with a $300 credit, lounge access, and up to $800 in cell phone protection, which is still a workable case.
