The Bilt Obsidian is the card for renters who also spend real money on food: you pick dining or groceries as a 3x category each year, and you keep up to 1.25x points on rent and mortgage payments with no transaction fee. Travel booked through Bilt Travel earns 4x on hotels and 3x on flights, other travel earns 2x, and Lyft rides earn 3x once linked. The $95 annual fee is offset in part by a $100 Bilt Travel hotel credit, paid as two $50 statement credits, but only if you book hotels through the Bilt portal. Watch the fine print: the 3x category is capped at $25,000 a year before dropping to 1x, everything else earns only 1x, and the rent rate is set each cycle based on your everyday spend relative to your housing payment. The $200 in Bilt Cash on approval needs no minimum spend, which makes the first year easier to justify.
