Our take

The headline is 5% back on gas and EV charging worldwide, including Sam's Club stations, on the first $6,000 each year, which is one of the better fuel rates available for no annual fee. Add 3% on dining and takeout and, for Plus members, 3% on Sam's Club purchases, and it covers a decent slice of a household budget. Two ceilings limit the upside: gas drops to 1% past $6,000, and total card earnings are capped at $5,000 in Sam's Cash per calendar year. Club-tier members earn only 1% at Sam's Club, so the wholesale-club rate is really a Plus-member benefit, and everything outside those categories earns a flat 1%. The signup offer is small at $30 after $30 in Sam's Club purchases in the first 30 days, and the card doubling as your membership card at the door is a convenience rather than a reason to apply.
