The own-brand catch matters, since national brands in your H-E-B cart earn only the base rate, but H-E-B's private labels are extensive and well-loved, so heavy shoppers can rack up real money with no annual fee and no foreign transaction fees. There is currently no welcome bonus, and the APR range stretches to a steep 35.99% at the low end of approvals, so carry no balance. Note that the card is only available to residents of Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and New Mexico. For anyone outside H-E-B country, a flat 2% card beats the 1.5% base rate.
