The Executive, now branded the World Legend Mastercard, earns its place through full Admirals Club membership for you and your authorized users, plus first checked bag free and preferred boarding on domestic American Airlines itineraries. Citi just raised the annual fee from $595 to $695 while boosting the welcome offer from 70,000 to 125,000 miles, though that bonus requires $15,000 in spend within 5 months. To offset the fee you have to actually use the credits: up to $500 a year on American Airlines Vacations packages split into two $250 halves, up to $180 in Lyft credits doled out $15 a month, $120 at Avis or Budget, and $100 on inflight and Admirals Club purchases. Earning is narrow, with 4x on eligible American Airlines purchases, 12x on AAdvantage Hotels and Cars bookings, and just 1x on everything else. It is the premium pick on our airline list for frequent American flyers who live in Admirals Clubs, but if you would not use the lounges and the vacations credit, the $695 fee is hard to justify.
