The Globe offers American Airlines perks at a lower price than the Executive: a free first checked bag on domestic itineraries, preferred boarding, and four Admirals Club Globe Passes each year for a $350 annual fee. It earns 6x on hotels booked through aadvantagehotels.com, 3x on American Airlines purchases, 2x on dining and on rides and rails, and 1x everywhere else, which is usable without being class leading. Statement credits do a lot of the work, with up to $240 a year on Turo trips, $100 on inflight purchases and $100 across a short list of splurge partners, most of which require enrollment or spending with a specific brand. The timing is worse than it was: the signup bonus was cut from 90,000 to 60,000 miles in July, and now stands at 60,000 after $4,000 in three months. It lands at #13 on our Best Airline Credit Cards list, and the math works best if you fly American a few times a year and will genuinely use the Turo and lounge pass benefits.
