Miles redeem for travel, cash back, gift cards, or merchandise rather than transferring to airline or hotel programs, so treat them as roughly a cent each and judge the card as a 2% travel earner, not as a points card. Two things push it above a plain cash back card for occasional travelers: no foreign transaction fees, and a Global Entry or TSA PreCheck credit of up to $85 every four years, which is rare at $0 a year. The Loyalty Travel Bonus of 10% to 50% on redemptions is only worth counting if you keep meaningful balances at Truist. Without that relationship, a flat 2% card with no annual fee does the same work with fewer strings.
