The annual companion certificate is the whole argument for this card: it arrives every year after renewal with no spend requirement and covers a Delta Main round-trip within the U.S. or to Mexico, the Caribbean, or Central America, which can outrun the $350 annual fee on one trip. Earning is better than the Gold's at 3 miles per dollar on Delta purchases and on hotels booked directly, plus 2 miles at restaurants and U.S. supermarkets and 1 mile elsewhere. The welcome offer rose to 100,000 miles in June and came back down to 90,000 after $3,000 of spend in six months in mid-July, and it is an up-to number, so your actual offer may be smaller. Status chasers get the clearest secondary benefit: a $2,500 MQD headstart each Medallion Qualification Year plus $1 in MQDs for every $20 spent. Just note how much of the rest is credit-shaped rather than cash, including $150 in Delta Stays, up to $10 a month at Resy restaurants, and up to $10 a month in rideshare, all of which only count if you would have spent there anyway.
