Our take

For a student card with no annual fee, the Savor Student's earn structure is genuinely broad: 3% back on dining, entertainment, streaming, and groceries, which covers most of what a college budget actually goes toward. Capital One recently doubled the signup bonus from $50 to $100, and the $300 spending requirement over three months is low enough that most cardholders will clear it without changing their habits. There's also 5% on hotels and rental cars booked through Capital One Travel, and no foreign transaction fee, which is useful for a semester abroad. The catch is the 1% base rate on everything outside those categories, so this shouldn't be the card you reach for by default. There's no intro APR either, and with a regular APR from 18.49% to 28.49% the card only works if you pay in full each month.
