The United Quest just raised its signup bonus from 60,000 to 80,000 miles after $4,000 in spend within three months, and the $200 in United TravelBank cash each year offsets a big chunk of the $350 annual fee if you already fly United. Add free first and second checked bags, a 10,000-mile award flight discount each anniversary, at least 10% fewer miles on United award bookings, and 1,000 Premier qualifying points a year, and a regular United flyer can come out well ahead. The earning is solid but narrow: 4 miles per dollar on United purchases, 5 on prepaid Renowned Hotels stays, 2 on other travel, dining, and select streaming, and just 1 on everything else. The catch is that much of the stated value sits in a long list of credits (Renowned Hotels, JSX, rideshare, Avis or Budget, Instacart) that only pay off if you use those specific merchants, and the rideshare and Instacart credits require enrollment. Get it if United is your home airline and you will use at least a few of the credits; otherwise the fee is hard to justify.
