The NFL Extra Points American Express is built for football fans: it earns 3% back on NFLShop.com, NFL stadium purchases, and NFL game tickets bought through team ticket offices, Ticketmaster, SeatGeek, and Sports Illustrated Tickets, plus 25% off NFLShop.com purchases with the card. It also earns 2% on dining, groceries, sporting goods, and gyms and fitness, with no annual fee and a $100 statement credit after spending $500 in the first 90 days. The catch is that the 3% rate applies only at those NFL merchants, not to entertainment broadly, and spending toward the bonus excludes all NFL purchases. Everything else earns just 1%, the card charges a foreign transaction fee, and the regular APR can run as high as 31.49%. It makes sense if you regularly buy NFL gear and tickets, but a general cash back card will serve most people better.
