Uber has told Uber One members that eligible rides will soon earn 5% back
in Uber One credits rather than the current 6%. The notice says the change
lands "in the coming weeks" and does not give a date. Uber's own help page for
the benefit still listed 6% as of August 18, 2026.
On $1,000 of eligible ride spending the credit drops from $60 to $50. For
someone paying full price for Uber One at $96 a year, ride spending needed
to cover the membership from ride credits alone rises from about $1,600 to
$1,920.
The same email carries two additions. Members can add one more adult plus
teens in their household at no extra cost, and Uber says member benefits now
work in more than 45 countries where the program operates.
Why card holders care
Two cards in our database put Uber One in the hands of cardholders. The
Platinum Card from American Express carries an Uber One Credit worth up to
$10 a month against an auto renewing membership, which covers the standard$9.99 monthly price. Those cardholders keep the membership for free, so the
cut shows up purely as a smaller rebate on rides, not as a bigger bill.
Apple Card includes a six month free Uber One trial for holders whosign up through the designated link. That trial now delivers the lower earn
rate for anyone starting it after the change takes effect.
Amex Platinum also carries a separate $15 a month in Uber Cash, rising to
$20 in December. That credit is unchanged by this announcement.
