Our take

The Coinbase One Card is built for people already deep in the Coinbase ecosystem: it pays 2% back in bitcoin on everything with no annual fee, and that rate scales to 2.5%, 3%, or 4% depending on the assets you hold on Coinbase. Read the fine print on the upper tiers, though, because anything above 2% is capped at $10,000 of eligible purchases per month and drops to 2% after that, and the whole rewards structure requires a paid Coinbase One membership you have to factor into the return. Travel booked through the card's own travel portal earns 5% in bitcoin and sits outside the tier cap, which is the one genuinely strong rate here. There are no foreign transaction fees and no signup bonus, and the regular APR runs 19.49% to 29.49%, so this only works as a pay-in-full card. If you would rather not hold a balance in bitcoin or do not keep meaningful assets at Coinbase, a plain 2% cash back card gets you the same base rate without the conditions.
