Flying Blue is replacing its single award price with three fare tiers on
September 8, 2026. Every new award booking on an Air France or KLMoperated flight will price as Light, Standard or Flex, each with a different
mileage cost and a different set of benefits.
The new pricing
Sample one way pricing between the United States and Europe:
| Cabin | Light | Standard | Flex |
|---|---|---|---|
| Economy | 25,000 | 30,000 | 50,000 |
| Premium Economy | 40,000 | 50,000 | 85,000 |
| Business | 60,000 | 75,000 | 110,000 |
What each tier includes
Light is the cheapest and the most stripped down. Business class Lightawards do not include lounge access, cannot be voluntarily changed or
refunded, carry a reduced baggage allowance of one 32 kg checked bag, and
charge extra for advance seat selection.
Standard restores lounge access and the full two bag allowance, and allowschanges and refunds for a 70 euro fee. Advance seat selection still costs
extra.
Flex includes free changes and refunds and bundles advance seat selection. Why it matters for cardholders
The practical effect is that the mileage price for an award with today's
benefits goes up. The fare that keeps lounge access and the ability to change
a booking now sits at 75,000 miles in business class, while 60,000 miles buys
the restricted version.
Flying Blue transfers 1:1 from American Express Membership Rewards, Chase
Ultimate Rewards, Citi ThankYou, Capital One and Bilt, and U.S. Bank added it
as a transfer partner for Altitude Reserve cardholders this month. Award
pricing on Flying Blue partner airlines is unchanged for now, and Flying Blue
elite members keep their benefits even on a fare that does not otherwise
include them.
