Our take
The Propel earned 3 points per dollar across an unusually wide set of categories for a no annual fee card: dining, travel including flights, hotels, homestays and car rentals, transit, gas and select streaming services, with 1 point per dollar on everything else. That combination made it a reasonable single-card setup for someone who did not want to track rotating categories or pay a fee. The catch now is decisive: Wells Fargo no longer accepts applications, so this is a card you can keep but not open. If you already hold one, the earn structure is still competitive enough to keep using for dining, gas and transit. If you do not, look at a currently available card instead, because there is no way to get this one.
